More about Ernie McNutt, MS, NBC-HWC

Ernie was born and raised in Texas and moved to New York to attend the New School for Social Research where he received a Master of Science in Non-Profit Management. Ernie had a successful career in New York City based non-profit organizations before opening EPM Coaching as a full time health and wellness coaching practice.

His career has been dedicated to advocacy for people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities (I/DD). He started as a Direct Support Professional and has supervised in residential and day programs among other jobs. Most recently he was the AVP of Care Management at Care Design New York, overseeing the New York City and Long Island teams. He had a total of 500+ staff focused on ensuring access to the healthcare and support services members need need to learn, grow and thrive.

Ernie has a certificate in health and wellness coaching from Wellcoaches and become a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach in 2024. He co-created a coach training program for front line supervisors while at Care Design NY and trained over 100 frontline supervisors on how to bring the 'coach approach' to their supervisory skill set. He co-presented on this successful program at major conferences.

Since January 2026, Ernie has worked full time as the Owner and Principal coach of EPM Coaching. Ernie has coached people with multiple chronic conditions and has seen the life changing impact that making simple but powerful lifestyle change can have. He is a member of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and the Academy for Behavior Change where he is active on the Clinical Implementation Committee.

Ernie loves being outdoors and enjoy hiking, kayaking, cycling and swimming. He likes to travel and explore new places with his family. He lives and works in New York City.
